I had a mixed experience at Aman Kyoto. While the fall foliage and the natural surroundings were absolutely stunning, the overall service and amenities didn't quite live up to expectations relative to the high price point. The local dining options were fresh and delicious, but I encountered some challenges with the concierge service. 🌿🍂

Rooms

The Takagamine Suite was spacious and beautifully designed, though I initially experienced some issues with the first room which felt a bit claustrophobic.
Service

Although I appreciated the warm greeting from Atsushi-San, the overall service fell short at times, particularly with restaurant bookings.

The setting amid the forest was amazing, especially with the autumn leaves, however, it felt somewhat removed from the main attractions of Kyoto.
Dining

I enjoyed the fresh, locally sourced ingredients in the dishes, which were a highlight of my stay, especially during the fall season.
Facilities

The absence of a gym and a pool was disappointing, particularly considering the premium price tag. The spa facilities were also quite small.

I had a tranquil stay at Aman Kyoto, nestled within beautiful gardens and offering amazing food and personalized service. However, the high rate of $4,000+ per night isn't justified by the lack of amenities such as a gym or pool, and the location, while serene, may not be ideal for city explorers. It's perfect for those seeking privacy and relaxation but might disappoint for the price.

Rooms
6.0
My initial room was underwhelming and uncomfortably positioned, but I was moved to a better room at no extra charge. The atmosphere is lovely, but some rooms feel too secluded for the cost.
Service
7.0
Staff were attentive and remembered my name, which added a personal touch to the experience, though I found the concierge service lacking in responsiveness.
Location
6.0
The hotel's location provides a peaceful escape from the city, but it's quite far from central Kyoto, making city exploration inconvenient without a car.
Dining

The on-site dining options were exquisite, with Taka An being a standout for its amazing local fish dishes!
Facilities

The spa's amenities were nice, especially the onsen, but the absence of a gym and pool was disappointing for a hotel of this price range.

My stay at Aman Kyoto was largely really good, making it a nice experience surrounded by tranquil nature. The blend of traditional aesthetics in the suites was stunning, though the breakfast service fell short, leaving us feeling a bit cramped at a small table. Overall, the attentive dining experience with Eavan completely made up for the breakfast hiccup.
